Ryan is an engaging television host and commentator, skilled at discussing various areas of public life. Currently, Ryan is the co-host of BETJ's My Two Cents, a pioneering commentary program that addresses popular topics in areas ranging from sports and entertainment to current events, politics and lifestyle issues.

In addition to his television career, Ryan is also an accomplished attorney. Through his current law firm, J Ryan Smith & Associates, PLLC, Ryan represents individuals and companies in the sports, film, television, music and publishing industries. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors of The Armory Track and Field Center in New York City and serves as a mentor with the Midtown Family Place Child Literacy Program in Manhattan.

Ryan earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Syracuse University and also studied Japanese and international politics at Temple University Japan. He graduated from Columbia University School of Law and resides in New York City.
