  COOL BEAR FACTS

Wolves vs. Grizzlies: Grizzly bears and gray wolves are historic rivals. When wolves have made a kill and a grizzly is nearby, the bear will hone in on the scent and try to take it over, resulting in a game of cat and mouse as the wolves attempt to thwart the bear's advances. Watch wolves fend off a grizzly bear.

Master of Its Domain: Other animals give the grizzly bear a wide berth. Black bears stay out of grizzly territory to avoid confrontation. Cougars do as well, though occasionally they try to defend their kills — often unsuccessfully. Coyotes, foxes and wolverines are considered pests rather than competitors.
