Pitbulls and Parolees

Mariah Talks Pits, Piercings and Public Speaking

Mariah

Meet the Team

Unlike her older sister Tania, Mariah was born into the pit bull world. She got her first pit bull, L.A., when she was just old enough to hold a leash. Mariah has been very spirited from the moment she was born, and her childhood was a series of contradictions — always happy to roll around and get dirty with the dogs, she was also quick to clean up and compete successfully in beauty pageants.

A natural with people and speaking in public, Mariah was just 8 years old when she spoke in front of the L.A. City Commission, mayor and hundreds of people at a meeting about spay/neuter laws. To this day, Mariah speaks frequently at high schools and community events about the rights of the pit bull breed, the evils of dogfighting and the breed's undeserved stereotype.

Mariah continues to have wide and varied interests. While she keeps one foot in Villalobos helping her mom and sister, Mariah hopes to try her hand at fashion design and possibly seek a degree in criminal psychology. Her current dogs are Tater Tot (Tank who was rescued in season one of the show), a French bulldog with a fearless attitude named Momo, a "Sharpador" (a Shar Pei/Lab mix) named Theo and her newest man ... Marvin, a huge white pit bull who was brought to Villalobos as a "vicious" dog who melted in Mariah's lap upon arrival and has been a prince ever since.

And despite Mama Tia's complaints over her newly acquired tattoos and body piercings, Mariah is actually a "flower child" who spends much of her time figuring out new ways to help homeless dogs, homeless people and children. Even though she is the baby of the family, she is known as the "old soul" who keeps things grounded and organized.
