Coyotes are cunning animals and exceptional hunters; their powerful senses and indiscriminate appetites mean pretty much anything can be on the menu — rabbits, deer, rodents, fish, frogs, insects, and cattle, as well as grasses, fruit and vegetation.

As nocturnal and opportunistic scavengers, coyotes hunt both in packs and alone. They can run up to 40 miles per hour, climb over high fences, and take down prey much larger than themselves. Coyotes often stalk their prey for many minutes before going in for the kill. They're also known to be very vocal animals — howling and yelping, barking and huffing — in a variety of different circumstances..
