Help Find Hope![]() Many viewers have expressed concern for Hope, who was featured on "Last Chance Highway." Hope was a feral dog that Shelly rescued from the side of the road in late November of 2009. Shelly and her vet tech cared for Hope for four months to help socialize her and return her to good health prior to putting her up for adoption. Hope was adopted into a loving home in New York City in April, where unfortunately she slipped her collar and ran away. Her adoptive parent tried to locate her to no avail. A week or so after Hope ran away, she was sighted in Central Park and a concerned couple contacted Animal Haven to help capture her and bring her back to the shelter. Hope, was renamed Melissa and stayed at Animal Haven for about two and a half weeks, was microchipped, and adopted out to a family in Oneonta, NY, where she would be able to live in a quiet, rural community. Unfortunately, she ran away again from her new family in May as soon as they got her home; they have also been trying to find her ever since. Only after all of this transpired was the connection made by Animal Haven that Hope and Melissa were the same dog, and they immediately contacted Shelly to let her know what happened. They have been working with the family to do what they can to help find her including contacting shelters in the Oneonta area to make them aware of the situation and to see if she had been turned in. In an effort to help locate Hope, Animal Planet has partnered with the Susquehanna SPCA and posted her photo along with a request for tips that may lead to her recovery on the "Last Chance Highway" web page. Our wish is that someone will recognize her and reach out to the Susquehanna SPCA with information that will lead to her return. If you see a dog fitting Hope's description, please contact the Susquehanna SPCA at sspca@stny.rr.com, or visit the Susquehanna SPCA Web site at http://www.susquehannaspca.org |
