![]() Officer Mark Blumberg has been a Police Officer since 1993. His K-9 partner 'Cobra' traveled from Holland in 2004 to join the St. Paul Police Department's K-9 Unit. Cobra was purchased with funds donated to the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation and is trained in agility, tracking, evidence receivery, building searches and criminal apprehension and loves to run fast and jump over tall fences. When not working Cobra lives at home with Officer Blumberg and his family. ![]() Nitro is a German Shepherd who was born on July 28, 1998 in the Czech Republic. He and his partner, Officer Jason Brodt have been partners since 2000. Nitro is trained in Tracking, Building Search, Evidence Recovery and Criminal Apprehension. He also has speciality training in Explosion Detection and is one of the dogs assigned to work with the SWAT Team. ![]() Officer John Buchmeier has been a St. Paul Officer since 1993. He has worked as a Patrol Officer and was a member of SWAT until 1999, at which time he joined the Canine Unit. Andy is German Shepherd Dog. He was purchased with funds that were donated by the St. Paul K-9 Foundation. Andy was born in 2005. He is usied for tracking suspects, searching buildings, evidence recovery and catching bad guys. He is also very good at finding narcotics and loves his work. ![]() Officer Mike Davis has been a Police Officer in St. Paul since May, 1984. His past assignments have been patrol and SWAT. He has been in the K-9 Unit since March 1989 and recently completed Basic K-9 School with his second canine partner, Auggie. Auggie is a 2.5 year old male German Shepherd. Auggie is from overseas and is sable colored. Auggie was purchased, then donated to the St. Paul K-9 unit in honor of a longtime Johnson High School coach, Lou Controneo. ![]() Officer Bob Edwards has been a member of the St. Paul Police Department since 1995. He became a police officer in 1998. Rico is a purebred German Shepherd imported from the Czech Republic. Officer Edwards and Rico joined the K-9 unit in the spring of 2006. Rico is trained in Tracking, Building Searches, Evidence Recovery, Criminal Apprehension and Narcotics Detection. ![]() Officer Ernster has been a Police Officer in St. Paul since 1994. He joined the K-9 unit in the spring of 2000. Buzz is a German Shepherd and was imported from the Czech Republic. He was purchased by the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation and is Officer Ernster's second K-9 partner. Buzz is trained to use his nose to find the 'bad guys' and any tools they may have used. He is also trained to find drugs as well. When not working Buzz lives at home with Officer Ernster and his family. ![]() Officer Mark Ficcadenti has been a St. Paul Police Officer since 1984. He joined the canine unit in 1990 and now serves as the unit's head trainer. Shadow is a patrol dog cross-trained in explosives detection and also works with the department's SWAT team. ![]() Officer Brady Harrison is an eight year veteran of the Police Department and has been a K-9 Handler for four years. His partner Sully, is an import from the Czech Republic and was purchased by the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation with funds donated by the Milk-Bone Company and Cub Foods. He is trained to search for human scent, articles and explosives. ![]() Officer Kellum has been a member of the St. Paul PD since 1999 and became a member of the K9 unit in 2004. Juda is a four-year-old German Shepherd that was imported from Holland and started his K9 career in 2005. His training includes tracking, evidence recovery and building searches. It should be known that Juda was purchased with funds donated to the St Paul Police K9 Foundation. When not at work Juda lives at home with Officer Kellum and family. ![]() Officer Longbehn has been a St. Paul Police Officer since 1984. Kody is a three-year old German Shepherd imported from Italy with funds donated to the St. Paul Police K-9 Foundation. Kody is trained in Tracking, Evidence Recovery, Building Searches and Criminal Apprehension. He is also Cross-trained in Narcotics Detection. When not at work, Kody lives with Officer Longbehn and his family. ![]() Officer McAlpine has been a St. Paul Police Officer for eight years. Deuce is a German Shepherd and was imported form Bosnia. He is trained in tracking, evidence receovery, aghility, criminal apprehension and narcotics. He was purchased with funds donated to the St. Paul Police K-9 foundation. When not working Deuce lives at home with Officer McAlpine and his family. ![]() Officer Patrick Murphy's partner Boomer is a black and tan colored German Shepherd dog. Boomer was born in Holland and was bought with donations given to the St. Paul Police Canine Foundation. Boomer is a patrol dog trained to use his nose to find people and evidence.
