EPISODE 1 of 8: In the Sanctuary
Premiered Friday, August 29, at 9 PM e/p
As the mini-series begins, Treadwell contemplates the dangerous situation at his new campsite. The female bears are in estrous, which means a lot of activity and a lot of bears that Timothy must meet. He begins fraternizing with the bears, conversing with them about their food sources at Big Green.
Later, Treadwell and Timmy the Fox watch as the bears go clamming on the beach. Each bear has its own specific way of opening the clams, but Treadwell finds Saturn's the most efficient. Timmy the Fox tries his hand at clamming too, but unable to learn from Saturn's example, Timmy is left with a pile of unopened clams. Back at camp, Treadwell is tested when big male Garth challenges his presence.

EPISODE 2 of 8: Aunt Melissa
Premiered Friday, August 29, at 9:30 PM e/p
Timothy comes across one of his most important study bears, Aunt Melissa. She is in a creek engaged in a fierce battle with another bear named Squiggle. The situation is dangerous as Aunt Melissa is with her new cubs: Emmy, Letterman and Rainbow. Luckily, Treadwell has known Aunt Melissa since she herself was a cub, and she is comfortable enough to introduce him to her cubs; therefore, the situation doesn't escalate. Timothy notices that one of the cubs, Rainbow, has an injured paw and contemplates her fate.
Although Rainbow appears to being doing better, tragedy strikes, and only Emmy and Letterman remain. Timothy is shocked by his encounter but moves on with his study of the bears. One year later, he reunites with Emmy and Letterman, but Aunt Melissa is no where in sight. It appears she has abandoned them. Will the now orphaned cubs be able to thrive on their own?

EPISODE 4 of 8: The Salmon Run
Premiered Friday, September 5, at 9:30 PM e/p
In this episode, Timothy witnesses a false salmon run — a spot in the creek where there is not enough water for salmon to make it over the rocks. The false run is causing many salmon to die prematurely, worrying Timothy that the bears won't have enough salmon through the season. When no bears show up to stop the false run, Timothy must take matters into his own hands to protect the salmon population. He hates to mess with nature, but he cares about the well-being of the bears and the salmon. Will his interference create a positive result?
Also in this episode, Treadwell introduces us to different approaches mother bears take with the care of their cubs. Timothy is on the creek with Tabitha and her cubs, Winter and Storm, and another family. Heavy rainfall has attracted a lot of big bears to the creek, putting some of the mothers on edge. Finally, Tabitha gets comfortable enough to provide Treadwell with what he considers the best experience of his career.

EPISODE 5 of 8: The Cycles
Premiered Friday, September 12, at 9 PM e/p
It's mating season at the Grizzly Sanctuary. Timothy Treadwell explores the mating cycle, birth and leave-taking of grizzlies as he intimately observes the coupling of bears and the miraculous springtime arrival of cubs. Nature's natural rhythms and the bonding together of creatures inspire both awe and melancholy in Treadwell.
Later, his confidence and humor are restored at the sight of his faithful fox family waiting for him at the river's edge. The foxes indulge both him and each other with their playful, affectionate ways. Treadwell closely observes their sophistication and compassion for one another as the family progresses through the summer. But the encroaching fall season dictates Treadwell's leaving. A huge early storm might make it impossible for him to get out of the Sanctuary in time to survive the changing season. He looks to the grizzlies for inspiration under nature's threat.

EPISODE 6 of 8: Fight Day
Premiered Friday, September 12, at 9:30 PM e/p
It's late in the season and an unusual number of large male bears are congregating around the back creek of the Grizzly Maze. Competition for fish and space is fierce. Treadwell witnesses a stunning amount of fights between alpha males as they struggle for supremacy while mothers and cubs are relegated to scavenging on the sidelines. This destructive behavior begins to worry Treadwell as many angry bears have been visiting his campsite at night.
After a particularly brutal battle at the creek, Treadwell cautiously returns to his campsite, only to find it under siege by a couple of mischievous three-pound weasels. He is at once charmed and enraged by the spirited creatures, who have managed to cause more damage to his belongings than any 1,000-pound grizzly bear ever has. While Treadwell is capable of getting giant, angry bears to back away from his tent, he is utterly unsuccessful at getting a stubborn, wiggly weasel out of his boot.

EPISODE 7 of 8: Day in the Life
Premiered Friday, September 19, at 9 PM e/p
Timothy Treadwell bursts from his tent in the middle of the night when a 6.5 magnitude earthquake rocks the Alaskan wilderness. Aftershocks and the menacing remains of a mysterious moose poaching operation continue to keep him disoriented as he manages to convene and watch over the wilderness family continually at his side.
As dusk approaches, Timothy finds comfort in the panoply of species enjoying the light at River's Edge while listening to his favorite radio program, a gentle imparter of advice from Anchorage who never talks down to his listeners. Timothy wonders what advice the radio host might have for him when an 800-pound grizzly is sniffing at his tent.

EPISODE 8 of 8: The Fall
Premiered Friday, September 26, at 9 PM e/p
A new, skinny, older bear arrives on the scene. Timothy Treadwell calls the new bear "Oly," a nickname for Big Old Bear. Timothy theorizes that Oly is probably in trouble — underfed and confused in his new surroundings. His theory is bolstered by the fact that both Cracker and Downey refuse to share the creek with Oly and even challenge him to a fight.
Quincy, another elderly bear, also makes an appearance. Unlike Oly, Quincy has been in the Maze as long as Treadwell can remember. He's been one of Treadwell's most important study bears as he's moved from reigning alpha male to fishing at the margins of the newer kings. Partially deaf, with tumors and no bottom teeth, the survival of Quincy from season to season has been a source of great joy for Treadwell and his every encounter with the bear is a minor celebration. His affection for "Q" is clearly returned as the old fellow chooses to take his rest in close proximity to Treadwell, even it seems, using Timothy as a shield of protection. To Treadwell, this gesture epitomizes "the magic that can take place between bears and humans."
Timothy startles a bear on one of the bear trails. It's Oly. The encounter is unnerving for both bear and man, but passes without further incident. That night Timothy records in his journal that his sleep was disturbed by a terrible nightmare of being eaten alive by a bear. This is Timothy's last diary entry.
