| Consider your dog's temperament before taking it to a dog park, especially if it's your first visit. Is your dog reserved or easily agitated? If so, it may need you to remain close, at least until it has a chance to assess the other animals. On the other hand, if Fido clamors to greet every wagging tail that passes you on the sidewalk, chances are you won't need to coax it into enjoying time with other dogs. Also, be sure to let others know if your dog prefers not to be approached or touched. Dogs and their owners tend to be quite gregarious when they are in the park, and some may forget to ask before they reach out to your dog. |
