As the first American organization legally empowered to take a stand against the perpetrators of animal cruelty, the ASPCA continues to play a vital role in rescuing animals every day and bringing those who harm them to justice.  The ASPCA's fight to end animal cruelty extends far beyond the streets of New York City. In 2005, ASPCA experts in humane law enforcement, shelter outreach and humane care teamed up to bring the ASPCA Anti-Cruelty Training Initiative nationwide.
