Scientific name: Lamprologus brichardi
The Swallowtail Cichlid that originated from Lake Tanganyika in East Africa is hardy enough for beginners. This very attractive cichlid grows to four inches and should be kept in a spacious tank with lots of rockwork and caves. Several striking color varieties are available.
A water temperature from 72º to 82º Fahrenheit, a pH between 7.5 and 8.5, and moderately hard to truly hard water will provide the best conditions. All flake and freeze-dried foods are accepted, but occasional feedings of live foods, such as brine shrimp, are highly recommended.
