Marbled Hatchetfish
By the Editors of Publications International, Ltd.
Scientific name: Carnegiella strigata
Of a distinctly different shape, the Marbled Hatchetfish grows to 1.5 inches. They occupy the upper area of the tank and can easily jump from uncovered aquariums. Like all hatchetfish, they should be kept in a group with quiet, placid tankmates.
A water temperature of 74º to 82º Fahrenheit with a pH of 5.5 to 7.5 and moderately soft to mildly hard water are recommended. Flake and freeze-dried foods are suitable. They will also appreciate tall plants with broad trailing leaves where they can find some shade.
