Scientific name: Barbus titteya
The beautiful Cherry Barb originates from Sri Lanka. It is not as active as other barbs, often hiding among the plants. The tank should be aquascaped with dark gravel, and the lighting should be subdued. Floating plants can be used to reduce the brightness.
The Cherry Barb tends to stay in the lower portion of the tank, whereas most other barbs prefer the middle and upper regions of the tank. A water temperature between 72º and 82º Fahrenheit with a pH of 6.5 to 7.5 and moderately soft to somewhat hard water work well. Feed flake and freeze-dried foods.
