A March Against Bears
Hundreds of local farmers gather in the town of Bagneres de Bigorre in southwestern France on Saturday, May 13, 2006, to protest the planned release of three brown bears in the Pyrenees Mountains. France's highest administrative body ruled that the government can repopulate bears, overturning a complaint from local farmers. The protesters carry a fake bear and a banner reading "Franska, Go Back to Slovenia" and "No to Bears in the Pyrenees." Two female Slovene bears, Franska and Palouma, were recently set free in the Pyrenees.
