The Polar Bear: On Thin Ice
As global temperatures rise, polar bears, like this one, are forced to swim further each year to reach the Arctic pack ice, where they spend the winter hunting seals. Instead of facing the marathon swim, some — especially those with cubs — are choosing to remain on land, where they risk dying of starvation.
