An Elephant Sans Tusks
Among Asian elephants, like this one, only the males have tusks. The tusk-free gene is found in between two and five percent of male Asian elephants, but this percentage has increased to between five and 10 in elephants in China, where rampant poaching has brought the total number of elephants down to about 250.
