Better Off in the Wild?
Scientific evidence shows that elephants, like this one, breed poorly, suffer from health problems and die young when kept in zoos, say activists. Australia's Taronga Zoo, on the other hand, maintains that a captive breeding program is just what Asian elephants need if they are to survive over the long term.
