Andalusian horses originated in the Iberian Peninsula in the region of Andalusia. The Romans and Greek valued this breed greatly, and it is often found in ancient paintings depicting it as a warhorse, some of which have been dated as being over 20,000 years old.

Origin
Used as a cavalry horse and in bull fighting in Southern Spain. Has been part of the development of many other horse breeds.
Characteristics
Long head with broad forehead and convex profile, long arched neck, short body with powerful hindquarters and strong fine legs. High knee action and short striding.
