The Indian Yellowtail Angelfish is also referred to as the Xanthurus Cream Angelfish, Cream Angelfish, or Yellowtail Black Angelfish. True to its Latin name, the caudal fin is yellow. The dorsal fin is outlined with a silvery-white line.
The Indian Yellowtail Angelfish adapts readily to aquarium life. It requires a minimum of a 75-gallon tank or larger with lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing offering an environment in which to thrive. It is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. Only one specimen should be kept per tank.
It is hermaphroditic, and there are no distinguishing features which differentiate males from females.
As with other angelfish, the diet should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, mysid or frozen shrimp, and other meaty items.
