Although referred to as the Half-Black Angelfish, the first two-thirds of this angel's body are actually a silvery, iridescent white. Also known as Pearl-scaled Angelfish from this coloration, the caudal one-third of the Half-Black Angelfish is black, including the caudal fin. There is a small vertical streak of orange just in front of the pectoral fin.
The Half-Black Angelfish will do well in a 30 gallon or larger tank with lots of hiding places and live rock for grazing. It is prone to nip at stony and soft corals (sessile invertebrates) and clam mantles. The larger the tank, the less aggressive the Half-Black Angelfish will be, however, it prefers not to live with other dwarf angels.
The diet of the Half-Black Angelfish should include Spirulina, marine algae, high-quality angelfish preparations, and mysid or frozen shrimp.
