The Cat Shark is so named because the barbels around the mouth have the appearance of cat whiskers. It is also referred to as the Grey Smooth Hound Shark
It requires an aquarium of at least six feet in length or diameter. It should only be purchased by expert aquarists, such as those in zoos and public aquariums. It grows rapidly in an aquarium and prefers a round aquarium. It will do well with other sharks of similar size.
The diet consists of meaty foods such as squid, fish pieces, and shrimp meat.
Like other sharks and rays, they are not compatible with: Dwarf Angelfish, Anglers & Frogfish, Anthias, Basslets, Batfish, Blennies, Boxfish, Butterflyfish, Cardinalfish, Clownfish, Damselfish, Eels, Filefish, Goatfish, Gobies, Grunts & Sweetlips, Hawkfish, Hogfish, Pseudochromis, Puffers, Seahorses & Pipefish, Sharks & Rays, Tangs & Surgeons, Triggerfish and Wrasse.
