Freshwater Fish
Rainbowfish

The name "Rainbowfish" was derived from the amazing iridescent colors that can change depending upon what angle the light reflects off of the fish. Rainbowfish are members of several different families: Atherinidae, Telmatheriidae, Melanotaeniidae, and Pseudomugilidae. All of these fish come from streams, rivers and lakes of Australia, New Guinea, and Madagascar. Rainbowfish are small, extremely colorful fish that adapt well to a variety of water conditions. These hardy, active fish do well with a variety of peaceful community fish as well as in the semi-aggressive aquarium. Rainbowfish are top water swimmers that can fill the void in most freshwater aquariums. A schooling fish, Rainbows prefer to be in groups of six or more fish of the same species.
