SPINELESS FOREST LIZARD (Calotes liocephalus)

Description: The spineless forest lizard is one of several lizard species endemic to the forests of Sri Lanka. It is distinguished by its short head, chubby cheeks, and lack of spines above the ear that related Sri Lankan lizards have. It has green and brown-black stripes along the length of its body and its tail is notably swollen at the base. It is threatened throughout its range by loss of forest habitat, mainly to agricultural and human settlements.
