Description: The keeled box turtle is a reptile found in the evergreen forests of India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and China. It has a golden carapace with a ridge running down the center. The keeled box turtle is commonly used in traditional medicines and for food in China and elsewhere. It is also frequently caught for the international pet trade. Populations are currently low and declining.

IUCN Status: Endangered
Major Threat: Poaching for Chinese traditional medicine, food and the international pet trade
Habitat: Mountainous terrain and evergreen forest
Location: India, Myanmar, Vietnam, Thailand and China
Diet: Mainly fallen fruit and other vegetation
