SEYCHELLES SCOPS OWL (Otus insularis)

Description: The Seychelles scops owl is a small brown owl with distinct ear tufts and a two-note raspy call. Like most owls, this species is active at night and is more likely to be heard than seen. Historically, the habitat of the Seychelles scops-owl was threatened by the cinnamon, coconut and logging industries. Today, there is evidence that their small populations are stable and possibly increasing.
