Description: With its dark body and bright red head and neck, the Mauritius fody is a striking bird. It is extremely rare and only occurs in the native forest of Mauritius. The population underwent a rapid decline in the past few decades and is currently very small. The main threats to this species include the destruction of native forest and nest predation.
