LEAST BELL'S VIREO (Vireo bellii pusillus)

Description: The least Bell's vireo is a small insectivorous songbird found in the scrubland of the Midwestern and southwestern United States and Northern Mexico. It has rounded wings, a short straight bill and a white ring around the eyes. It has a grayish back and light underbelly, which makes it blend in with the sky from below and the ground from above. Least Bell's vireo is threatened by loss of habitat.

USFWS Status: Endangered
Major Threat: Habitat loss
Habitat: Riparian woodlands, scrub and thickets
Location: Midwestern and southwestern United States and Northern Mexico
Diet: A variety of insects
