Description: Parakeets are typically brightly colored birds that live in the tropical regions of the world. The golden parakeet is a warm yellow color with dark green wings and a strong hooked beak, which is well adapted for eating seeds, nuts and berries. It lives along rivers in the Amazon rain forest of Brazil. Like many parakeet species, the golden parakeet is currently threatened by deforestation and the illegal caged bird pet trade.
