POLAR BEAR

Polar bear babies are born in a snowy den while the mother bear is hibernating. They weigh about one pound at birth, but nurse during hibernation and emerge in spring weighing about 15 pounds. Mother polar bears watch over their babies very closely and may attack a much larger male to protect her cubs.
