FLAMINGO

Flamingos breed in huge colonies, sometimes made up of several hundred thousand mated pairs. The mother flamingo lays a single egg in a shallow mud nest on the ground. Both parents care for the chick for the first week or two of life. Then, the young flamingo joins the crèche, which is a large gathering of juvenile birds.
