Answer
Hair of the Dog that Bit You

Definition: A cure for a hangover; an alcoholic drink taken as a pick-me-up after a night of too much drinking.

Origin
Well, it appears that just about everyone knew the definition of this funny little phrase — I wonder why. (Actually, one person claimed ignorance. Yeah, right.) Only a few Pig Players, however, came up with the origin. Cast your mind back to at least the 16th century. Strange beliefs and concoctions mingled together and rabid dogs lurked around every corner. Once bitten by a “mad dog” a horrible death was your fate — unless you happened to grab a hair off that mangy mongrel. Slapping the precious treasure on the wound was believed to instantly cure the afflicted. Now, of course, we are far too sophisticated to believe something as silly as this — like taking an alcoholic drink as a cure for a hangover.

A special thanks goes to periwinkle76 for the rabies antidote recipes. I think I’d rather come down with rabies.
