Blindfish
Blindfish, various species of fish that live in caves, ocean depths, or muddy waters. They are usually white or pink. Their ancestors were normal fish that remained in dark areas and through generations lost their sight. Some species are born with eyes, but soon lose them. Blindfish feel their way about by means of sense organs on the head, body, and tail.
The cavefish lives in near total darkness.A cavefish, or blindfish, has no eyes. It also has no skin color. A cavefish looks pink because its blood shows through its flesh.
Cavefish spend their entire lives in pools of water in caves in the eastern United States. Cavefish are only about 5 inches (13 centimeters) long. They may not be able to see, but they do have excellent senses of touch. Their bodies have rows of skin growths that they use to feel their way around and to find food.
Besides cavefish, there are about 20 other kinds of fish that can’t see. These fish live in caves and deep seas around the world.
