An Adoptable Mercedes
Volunteer Sandi Schiffman pets Mercedes — an eight-year-old Weimaraner who was left homeless in New Orleans as a result of Hurricane Katrina — at an event sponsored by Animal Haven in New York City on Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2005. The animal rescue agency brought more than 50 animals from the Gulf Coast to New York for adoption or foster care.
