Serengeti at Night
Light fades in the Serengeti.
Serengeti at Night

What's it like to wander the untamed African savanna, after dark, with little else besides a camera? Filmmakers Amanda Barrett and Owen Newman have been there, and Amanda is eager to share her experience. Join her on a starlight safari into remote areas of Tanzania's Serengeti National Park, where a wilderness of nighttime behavior awaits.

Inside you'll find imagined, but informative, descriptions of what you might come across as a nighttime filmmaker in the Serengeti. You'll find mini-field guides (photos and animal stats) to help you identify what's moving in the dark. You'll also find a menu for each animal, listing what it might eat on a typical night and what it might fall prey to. Amanda will be at your side explaining what it was like to film caracals, leopards and other wild animals for the Mutual of Omaha's Wild Kingdom special Night Cats on the Prowl.
