Ask an Expert

What would you like to know about India's tigers, Asiatic lions, leopards and snow leopards? Ask our expert all about the big cats of India.

Peter Jackson is chairman emeritus of the World Conservation Union (IUCN) Cat Specialist Group, which includes nearly 200 scientists and wildlife managers involved with the survival of wild cats. His interest in tigers arose during 18 years in India as a news correspondent, which led to work with WWF International, Operation Tiger, India's Project Tiger, and conservation programs in Nepal, Thailand and Indonesia. Peter has co-authored and co-edited several publications on big cats and tigers, including Wild Cats: Status Survey and Conservation Action Plan, compiled and edited by Kristin Nowell and Peter Jackson (IUCN 1996), and Riding the Tiger: Tiger Conservation in Human Dominated Landscapes (Cambridge University Press 1999).
