The migration of the Mali elephants is completely driven by the quest for water and finding it often leads to celebration. Here the elephants reach Banzena. Houdret recalls filming another special moment at Lake Gossi:
"I remember one interesting moment when we [the film crew] were eating lunch; we learned that we were about 300 meters from where the elephants were last seen at Gossi. There are these estuaries leading into Lake Gossi, so we jump into a canoe to get a shot of the elephants. We came up on them suddenly and were about 150 meters from them in the lake. It was a pretty tense moment because we were trying not to get too close so as not to scare them. We managed to get a good shot of them wading through the water."
