In some areas of Africa playing a simple game of soccer can be too dangerous. Forty million unexploded landmines scattered across Africa are the souvenirs of a violent past. The giant pouch rat being held by Jared Mkumbo, a rat trainer, is doing the work that dogs used to do, but more efficiently and safer — sweeping for landmines.
