Brian, or Briano to almost everyone, started work at Australia Zoo in January 1995 and is one of the longest-serving staff members. Briano is testament to the success of Australia Zoo's volunteer program, having progressed to the position of curator of crocodiles. Brian is ultimately responsible for all of the crocodilian species at the zoo. He is also a key member of the Crocodile Rescue Unit and has been involved in the planning and execution of all the rescues to date.
His laid-back attitude is somewhat deceiving as Briano is one of only a few people at the zoo with the skills to perform the saltwater crocodile demonstrations.
Brian is a keen naturalist and nature lover. He has a passion for everything Australian, whether it's animals or the environment, but his true love is crocodiles. Briano's other passion is surfing; at every spare moment when the surf is up you can find him on a beach somewhere on the Sunshine Coast. He also enjoys four-wheel driving, skydiving, rock climbing and bush walking.
