Episode: Downy Woodpecker, Gray Fox, Black Racer Snake

Materials: saw, 1/2-inch untreated pine, 1-inch wood screws, 1 1/4-inch hole bit, drill/driver, tape measure, safety glasses, sawdust/shavings, 2 galvanized hinges, 1/4-inch drill bit

Instructions:

1) Cut the pieces:
A. bottom - 4 inches x 4 inches
B. back - 14 inches x 5 inches
C. 2 sides - 8 or 10 inches x 5 inches
D. front - 8 or 10 inches x 5 inches
E. top - 5 inches x 7 inches

2) About 2 inches from the bottom of the back piece, assemble the sides, front, and bottom.

3) Drill two or three drainage holes in the bottom of the box.

4) Put the top in place and attach the hinges.

5) Drill the entrance hole 6 inches from the bottom of the box.

6) Open and fill with 4-5 inches of sawdust/shavings.

7) Hang box 10 -12 feet high.
