Hand-Painted Watering Dishes

Episode: Flying Squirrels and Woodpeckers

Purpose: To create a decorative watering hole for woodpeckers.

Materials: Large terra-cotta saucers (9- to 17-inch diameter), nontoxic exterior paints, various paintbrushes and a wild imagination.

Instructions:

1) Use a pencil to draw a pattern, or a stencil to create a unique design.

2) Apply the paints to the saucers using brushes, rags or even a finger!

3) Let the paint dry for 24 hours before filling with water and displaying in the garden.
