Episode: Alligators and Green Anoles

Purpose: To attract green anoles, a small lizard and distant cousin of the alligator.

Materials: small plastic bottle (water or soft drink type), duct tape, utility knife, over- ripened fruit

Instructions:

1) Using the utility knife, cut off the top of the bottle just above the label.

2) Place some fruit into the bottom two-thirds of the bottle.

3) Invert the top and place it back onto the bottle, securing the two pieces with duct tape.

4) Leave the bottle in the garden for several days to attract flies.

5) Once the trap has filled with flies, remove the top and release the large mass of flying anole food into the garden.
