Log Feeder

Episode: American Kestrel and the Northern Flicker

Purpose: To create a log feeder for American kestrels.

Materials: Drill, 1-1 ½" hole bit, eye screw, suet or peanut butter, nuts or birdseed, log about 3-5" in diameter and about 2-3' in length.

Instructions:

1) Find a small log. Leave the bark on.

2) Screw the eye hook to the top of the log.

3) Drill several holes, about ½-¾" deep, into the log.

4) Next, fill the holes with suet. If using you are using peanut butter and seeds, then combine the two ingredients together before packing the mixture into the holes.

5) The log feeder is ready for hanging in the habitat.
