The Backyard Habitat team helps a Tennessee couple restore natural beauty to their clear-cut farm by introducing habitats for dragonflies, damselflies and indigenous snakes. The Spicka family learns that many "scary" animals are not so fearsome and are actually quite beneficial to humankind. They decide to build a flowering brush pile for the nonvenomous corn snake, nature's version of rodent control. The Spikas also learn how to create a backyard pond that will attract natural bug zappers: dragonflies and damselflies. They then meet a few friendly snakes at a local nature center.
