A visit to the home of Patty and John Sucato proves there is no space too urban and no species too wild for a backyard habitat. The team creates a refuge that will attract birds and butterflies to a family's outdoor space while keeping possums and raccoons out of their attic. David introduces us to the Arrowwood Viburnum, which produces pollen, nectar and berries for all kinds of wildlife. In addition to learning how to provide visiting animals with these types of natural food sources, viewers also find out how to keep them from not-so-natural ones, like garbage cans. Next, the
Backyard Habitat team demonstrates some uses for bungee chords, strobe lights and soda bottles that would give MacGyver an idea or two. They even explain how to make a first-class feeder from everyday household items. Then the team is off to the Second Chance Animal Clinic to talk possum with a licensed wildlife rehabilitator. Viewers will hear why several supposed nuisance species are actually quite amazing and learn how to handle one of these animals when it's injured.
