small text
large text
In this episode, neighbors on Bainbridge Island join together to make their yards a resource for the local wildlife. The animals of choice: the banana slug, the western red-backed salamander and the Steller's jay. For the slug, they'll plant a unique garden complete with mushrooms; for the jay, it's a decorative — and edible — string of popcorn and peanuts; and for the salamander, an easily accessible water source and moist environment in damp brush pile. Once finished, their yards will be certified as official backyard wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.
