Q: On Cat DNAWhat is the percentage of resemblance between the DNA configuration of domestic cats and lions?
A: I don't know that this has been established. Geneticists studying cats point out that the cat family is of fairly recent origin and the species have been separate for a relatively short period, so that differences are small and difficult to detect.
Q: Do tigers, lions, leopards, cheetahs and jaguars have almost the same bloodline?
A: Molecular research has shown that tigers, lions, leopards, jaguars, snow leopards, and clouded leopards are closely related in the "Panthera lineage". Crosses between tigers, lions and leopards have been bred in captivity. The cheetah has been found to be part of the "Puma lineage", along with, surprisingly, the small jaguarundi.
