After only one week at home, Mr. Fancy Pants already has something in store for his owner. This Devon Rex sheds his kitty coat normally, but the temporary baldness uncovers a surprise: ringworm!
Dr. Kevin Fitzgerald illuminates the discovery under an ultraviolet light. The fungus on the kitten's skin glows a bright green. Unfortunately for owner Sarah Smith, it becomes a lesson in contagious disease.
A series of baths and the application of lime sulfur will kill the fungus. But few cats like water, and Mr. Fancy Pants proves to be no exception. "It's quite pitiful!" Dr. Fitzgerald jokes. "Isn't it sad when babies get bathed?"
When his adult coat grows in, this kitten will relish the chance to give himself a bath.
