The cub was quiet during the 14-minute exam on Aug. 18, 2005, and even fell asleep at one point. Mei Xiang was busy eating bamboo while her cub was being examined. When the doors were opened at the end of the exam, she continued eating for a few more minutes. Zoo staff were pleased that she wasn't as anxious about being separated from her cub as she has been in the past. The National Zoo's three giant pandas live at the zoo's Fujifilm Giant Panda Habitat.
