During the 14-minute health exam on Aug. 18, 2005, Assistant Curator Lisa Stevens (left) and zoo veterinarians Dr. Suzan Murray (center) and Dr. Sharon Deem (right) checked the cub's respiration, heart rate, eyesight and looked inside its mouth. The cub's heart and lungs sounded healthy, and though its eyes haven't opened yet there was a blink response. Its teeth haven't erupted yet — they're not expected to for another couple of months — but there is a gum ridge.
