The National Zoo's giant panda cub weighed 2.6 pounds and measured 14.25 inches in length at the time of the exam on Monday, Aug. 8, 2005. The cub, which was born on July 9, appeared sturdy and its lungs and heart sounded healthy, the zoo said on its Web site. The exam began at 5:03 p.m. and lasted approximately 10 minutes.
