The National Zoo's male giant panda cub lies quietly during his seventh health checkup on Friday, Sept. 30, 2005. He received his second vaccination against the canine distemper virus during the 14-minute exam, said a zoo press release. "He handled it very well," said Dr. Suzan Murray, chief veterinarian at the Smithsonian's National Zoo. The cub measured 24.7 inches and weighed 11.1 pounds at the time of the exam. His molars are beginning to emerge, said zoo staff, who felt a ridge of teeth when they checked the cub's mouth.
